There are many things that are important to the success of your Internet marketing business, and one of the most important aspects is search engine optimization (SEO.) If you are brand new to this industry, then I am sure that you have heard mention of search engine optimization, but you may not be entirely familiar with it. So, for this reason, I have decided to make the search engine optimization or SEO, the topic of my post for the letter ‘S’ in the A to Z Blogging Challenge.
First, let’s take a look at what search engine optimization is. Search engine optimization refers to the practice of optimizing your Web site so that it can be as visible as possible to the search engines. Why do you want your Web site to be as visible as possible to the search engines? Well, because the search engines are a major factor in what drives the success of your online business. The more visible your Web site is to the search engines, the more valuable they are going to find your site, and the higher your site is going to rank on those search engines. A high search engine ranking is one of you major goals as an Internet marketer, as this ranking will help to increase your authority and your traffic; which will in turn increase your sales and your profits.
There are many different facets that are involved in search engine optimization. Allow me to share a few of these facets with you:
- Keywords. Keywords refer to those words that Web searchers use in order to locate a product or service on the World Wide Web. These keywords will help to direct these Web searchers to your Web site. In order to find these keywords, you must conduct keyword research.
- Content. Content is a valuable part of search engine optimization. In order to get noticed by the search engines, you must make sure that you add content to your site on a regular basis, as this will let the search engines know that your site is fresh and current. Your content should be high quality, unique and it can also contain your keywords.
- Links. Links are also important in search engine optimization. The more links that there are to your Web site, the more valuable the search engines are going to see your Web site as, and the higher your ranking will be. You can create backlinks on other blogs, Web sites, or with article marketing.
