If you are just getting started out in the Internet marketing industry, let me be the first to tell you that the search engines are the bread and butter of your business, and Google is the jam. What do I mean by this? Well, all search engines are important to your business and having a presence on each of them is important, but your appearance on Google is the most important. Why? The answer is quite simple, really; it’s because Google is the most popular search engine there is. That being said, your appearance, or your ranking, on Google can really make or break your Internet marketing business. So, all of that said, you want to make sure that you are in good standing with this search engine.
All search engines conduct this thing, known as ‘crawling.’ Crawling is the process whereby a search engine collects documents from the Web. The purpose of this crawling is so that the search engines can refresh pages that have changed since the last crawl was completed, and so that they can locate new pages, thus expanding their index.
So, now that you know how important Google is and now that you know what crawling is, you can understand why it is so important to know how often Google will crawl your website. The answer to this is that there is no definite answer. You see, all search engines, Google included, assign a crawling priority to every single page that is on the World Wide Web. This crawling priority is the number that is given to a Web page that signifies the importance of a page in relation to crawling. It works out that pages that receive a higher crawling priority number are crawled before a page with a smaller number. So basically, the higher the priority number is for your Web page, which is assigned to you by Google, the more often your Web page is going to be crawled.
My advice to you, to make sure that you are prepared each time Google crawls your Web page, whenever it may be; make sure that you always add new content to your site, make sure that you are always utilizing SEO techniques and make sure that you are adding dynamic and meaningful information. If you do this, then you will have a better chance of increasing your page rank when Google crawls your site.
