On this Halloween, I want to remind you that you should avoid playing tricks on your clients and you should instead offer them treats.
What do I mean by this? Well, in the Internet marketing industry, as with in all industry, it is the sad truth that there are people out there who are willing to take advantage of others. These people start up businesses online because they want to try to make a quick buck. They set up a site, claim certain things, offer different products or services and then once they have the money that they desire in their pockets, close up shop and don’t deliver. Essentially, these people are crooks and have given Internet marketing a bad name, in the eyes of some people.
I want to remind you that you should never, ever offer something that you can’t deliver in this business. Don’t offer a product that you can’t or aren’t planning on providing. Don’t say that you can offer a specific service and actually know nothing about it. In short, don’t claim to be something that you are not; or trick your clients. At the end of the day, your true colors will come through and you will not only create a bad name for yourself, but you may end up in heaps of legal trouble; not to mention ethical and moral trouble.
Now, I know that none of the readers of this blog would ever play tricks on their clients; but it has to be said, all the same. What you may not think of, however, is offering your clients’ treats.
For example, you may offer a freebie for signing up to your mailing list, or for purchasing a specific product or service from you. You may give away an eBook that your clients may find helpful or offer a free service, etc. People are always looking for something more, and by offering them treats, they are more likely to want to work with you.
At the end of the day, treats are always better than tricks; and that holds true for all areas of life – even Internet marketing. Now, I hope that you do have a lot of fun treats coming your way on this festive holiday and that you don’t receive many tricks (unless, of course, you want them.)
