A Company Blog Is Not A Personal Diary

"A Company Blog Is Not A Personal Diary"There is no denying that a blog is a very powerful aspect of an Internet marketing business. One of the great things about a blog is that it allows you to develop a personal relationship with your clients. Now, that being said, there are also some things that you should keep in mind when you are operating your blog. If, for example, you are operating a blog for a business, you must remember that this blog should not be run like a diary.

What do I mean by this? I mean that you should not share personal information, anecdotes, etc, on your business blog posts.

While yes, a business blog is a great way for you to connect with your clients, it should remain professional. This means that you should not share what you did last night on your time off, etc. You certainly can share things that you may have tried and your personal experiences with certain products or services that are related to your business, as this will allow you to let your clients know that you have personally tried different tactics and you are offering your experiences; but, remember that you should always keep it professional.

So, if one of the benefits of a blog is to create a more meaningful relationship with your clients, than how do you go about creating blog posts that aren’t diary-like and that remain professional? Think about what you are going to post about. For instance, if you are running a parenting business blog, don’t write a post about how your newborn kept you up all night; even if she did. Instead, write a post about a product or method that the readers of your blog can use to help their newborns sleep through the night, or how they can cope with the sleepless nights. Sure, you can add that you tried the tactics you are suggesting yourself, but don’t make your post a casual, “Boy, I sure am exhausted after my baby kept me up all night.” A better option would be to say, “When my baby doesn’t sleep through the night, I try….” Can you see the difference between the two statements? The first sounds more like a diary entry, while the second is offering a tip that you used and that your readers can also use.

It is always be practice to think before writing any blog post, especially when it comes to a business blog. Make your posts sound as professional as possible, while still offering sound advice.
